Teaching Self Reflection – Sticky Note Style

July 2, 2015 by Teach Junkie

Teach self reflection with a simple 3 part symbol drawn on a sticky note. Here is free download reference chart that students use to rate their work. A triangle is the shape that students use to rate themselves on a scale of 1 to 3. For each level, they draw one side of the triangle. This is a great, quick self-assessment tool for kindergarten, first grade, second grade or even third grade.

How to Teach Self Reflection

Post this printable poster in the classroom. Model with examples of how students can understand completing all, most or some of what you’ve asked. After the activity, students draw their self-assessment on a post it note and stick it to their assignment. You could also use this for students to share how well they feel they understand a topic too (using the same some, most, all words) if you’re looking for feedback on who needs more coaching.
