Close reading is a buzz word circling the education world. Here is a printable set of close reading toolkit materials to make individual sets. You’ll find an organizational label and a symbols key that students can use to support their reading comprehension.

These are great for upper grade levels like third grade, fourth grade and fifth grade.

Create Your Own Close Reading Toolkits

As you are exploring what is close reading, consider what will help your students pay attention to the text in the form of good reading strategy reminders and materials. Will your students need highlighters, pens or sticky notes?
