Right, let’st start with the idea of changing up some teaching strategies. Add a little spice into the way you teach by making students into the teacher. They will be itching to tell you what to do and for procedural tasks, this makes a great solution for changing things up.

Create an “Are You Smarter Thank Your Teacher” fun competition to review concepts at the end of a unit. For math, consider letting students help create the test – you’ll be getting real bang for you buck with this one!

Try using investigations like Scholastic’s Math Maven Mysteries (for 3rd and 4th grade) pictured above to get students focused. And lastly, use the outdoors to your advantage…
