# 3 Free Math Activities for Area, Perimeter, Volume

You can teach math concepts like area, perimeter and volume with fun activities. These 3 free activities will help your students practice in ways that are meaningful and practical.

You’ll find a playing game board, a set of activity cards for finding the area, perimeter and volume of 3D shapes and a name activity.

These free download math activities will work great as whole class activities or as small group center work.

Working on learning how to find the area, perimeter or volume of an object will feel fun to students. These fantastic activities will have your students working hard and being actively engaged.

## Area

1. Connect Four – This game will introduce students to the concept of finding the area of an object. Brenda’s free download will let students create their own playing board using models included or numerals.

She has directions to use it whole group or small group which makes students work hard no matter what format works for you. {Free download}

2. Formula Cards – You’ll have students learning how to find the area, perimeter and volume of 3D shapes with these cards. It was designed to help students connect using formulas to practical application.

Could be used whole group if you played a “scoot” style of game or can be used a task cards in a center or small group.

3. Name Measurement – Names are incredibly meaningful to students and therefore big motivation.

Use each letter in a student’s name as an object to create and measure. Krista will walk you through how to use centimeter graph paper to create letters in block form and then use background paper for students to work out the the perimeter and area of each letter.
