July 3, 2017 by Rachel

Here is an activity that is great to use for students to practice their length measuring skills. Send them on a classroom Measuring Scavenger Hunt!

The activity can be done as independent practice, in pairs, or even groups… however you choose to manage it.

The free download is asks 10 questions. You can select either nonstandard units of craft sticks or standard units of inches and feet.

Take Your Students on a Length Measuring Scavenger Hunt

Be sure at the end of the hunt to share all the answers to show students that there can be multiple correct responses. What can you find that is 10 inches long?

Students will get lots of measuring practice and the discussion will amp up the value of this measuring activity even more.

About Rachel

I am a former journalist who changed careers and became an elementary teacher. I have spent the last four years substituting. Many students know me as "the baby teacher" since I tend to do long-term jobs for teachers on maternity leave.

My quest is to land in a classroom of my own, but until then I plan to be the best sub I can be... and help others do the same.
