Colorful Ceramic Clay Coral Reefs Art Project

Working with clay can be a rewarding art experience. Here is how to make clay coral reefs with your class that are very colorful. These ocean coral reefs end up being unique and stunning artworks that would make great paperweight gifts or even an at home aquarium decoration. This project was created for third and fourth graders.

Ceramic Coral Reefs From Clay

Working with a ball of clay, students will create a base for their coral reef. Students use half of their clay to form smaller, detailed items like barnacles, sea anemones or a starfish. The entire creation will need to dry for multiple days before they can be painted. Seal the project with ModPodge to add the finishing touches.
